Verify a signed message

Check that a message really was signed by the owner of a Garlicoin address. Handy for giveaways and trades: ask the other person to sign a message, then check it here before you send.

How to sign a message

  1. In Garlicoin Core, open File → Sign message.
  2. Pick one of your addresses that starts with G, type the message and press Sign Message.
  3. Send the address, the message and the signature to whoever asked.

Garlicoin Core 0.18 can only sign with G addresses. Signatures from wallets that sign with M or grlc1 addresses (the BIP137 style) can be checked here too.

Tips

  • The message must match exactly: every space, capital and line break counts.
  • Ask for something only they could write now, like your username and today's date, so an old signature can't be reused.
  • Everything is checked in your browser.
