Clove Squadron
A shoot-'em-up with a garlic clove for a fighter. Fly over the breakfast table, the wheat fields at sundown, Crust City by night and into the great oven, shooting down croutons, burnt toast, pepper drones and a boss on every stage. Then round again, harder.
Clove
Squadron
Four stages. Eight bosses. One very smelly fighter.
How to play
- Your guns fire by themselves the whole time. You just fly and dodge.
- Phone or tablet: drag anywhere to fly. Tap BOMB, or put a second finger down, for a bomb.
- Mouse: the ship flies to the pointer, no button needed. Click for a bomb.
- Keyboard: arrows or WASD fly, X drops a bomb, P pauses, M mutes the sound and music.
- Gamepad: the left stick or the D-pad flies (push the stick a little to creep), B or X drops a bomb, Start pauses, Select mutes. Press A to start.
- Only the small pink dot in the middle of the clove can be hit. Dodge the bright bullets, not the whole ship, and let them skim past it to graze them for a bonus.
- Shoot down the baskets: S spreads your shot and calls up wingmen, B is a garlic-breath bomb that clears the screen (carry up to three), the blue ring is a shield that takes one hit.
- Kill quickly to keep a chain going: every 8 in a row adds to the multiplier, up to x8. Break a boss's armour or beat it and its bullets turn into gold cloves that fly to you.

Croutons are worth 10, pepper drones 25, pot turrets 30, donuts 40, burnt toast 50 and the baskets 80, times your chain multiplier (up to x8). Garlicoins dropped by the bigger foes are 10 each, and the gold cloves a cancelled bullet leaves 5. A mid-boss pays 2,000, a stage boss 6,000 and each of its guns or parts you shoot off 500, and clearing a stage pays 1,000 a stage number, plus 2,000 if you didn't lose a ship and 5 for every bullet you grazed (up to 300). Lose a ship and you drop a power level: catch it before it drifts away. The second loop pays one and a half times as much, and every loop after that double. Extra ships at 80,000, 200,000, 400,000 and 650,000, then every 300,000 (five in reserve at most).
The stages: Breakfast Run, Golden Fields, Crust City and The Great Oven, where Count Crustula waits. Beat him and the squadron flies round again, against faster bullets, tougher bread and bread that fires back as it dies.
